Mission

Guthrie Tomorrow Coalition, Inc., dba/State Capital Publishing Museum was created to acquire, restore, renovate, preserve, maintain, and recognize the historical significance of the building known as the State Capital Publishing Museum which is located in the State’s first capital city of Guthrie, Oklahoma.

The Guthrie Tomorrow Coalition, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) corporation, was formed to preserve and restore the iconic 115-year-old State Capital Publishing building and museum with the intent to ensure that generations to come will have the opportunity to experience the rich legacy of newspaper and print publishing in Oklahoma.

Vision

The State Capital Publishing Museum is a significant historic landmark destination that offers programming with something for everyone – all ages, all stages. It stands as a beacon to the publishing industry and a tribute to the beginnings of Oklahoma statehood.

The organization provides a sustainable, financially stable plan for the museum, which operates as a gathering place that encourages dynamic engagement through hands-on exhibits and community events.

Strategies

The State Capital Publishing Museum Board has outlined a plan of action to assist with the execution of restoration and renovation of the building known as the State Capital Publishing Museum.  Elements identified for repair and/or renovation as well as programs to be developed include:

Window Replacement – Replacement/Repair of Doors and Door Openings – Plumbing Upgrades – Railing and Sidewalk Upgrades – Installation of Pedestrian Elevator – Installation of Property Fire Escape or Equivalent Safety Requirement – Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Elevator Assessments; Repair/Reinforcement of northeast Steps and Landing – Repair of Basement Walls and West Wall – Masonry Repairs – Interior Repairs and Upgrades

Secure Substantial Financial Support (Donations, Fundraisers and Grants) – Development of Marketing and Branding Plan; Complete Building Acquisition – Collect Oral Histories and Photographs – Development of Programming for Children and Adults (in-person and on-line); Plan for Operations and Recurring Maintenance – Training of Board Members and Volunteers – Adherence to Action Plans
